From the 19th to the 22nd of March, ten members of the Year 12 MUN CAS group — accompanied by our MUN Director, Mrs Obermeier — travelled to Milan to take part in one of the most high-octane leadership challenges the IB CAS programme has to offer. The full article can be found here.

Under the motto “Maximum Perspective,” the Hessen Bergstraße regional competition of Jugend forscht took place at BASF Lampertheim on February 21, 2026. The MakerLab participated with five projects. Three won first place and qualified for the state competitions in Darmstadt and Kassel.In addition, the students received four special prizes, including a two-week research internship at BASF, as well as the school prize “MINTSPACE.”

The highest diploma points awarded were an amazing 43 and a 42! A forty-two or better is the equivalent to an “Abiturschnitt of a 1.00”.
Of the 32 graduates 10 were awarded the Bilingual Diploma.
In most subjects and levels our students scored above the world average, in some by even more than one mark! Thank you IB teachers, SISS staff and all teaching assistants for this excellent outcome.
This year's Careers Day event was packed with interactive activities for our SISS Year 8 students. Each student participated in four one-hour workshops from a variety of career fields, including carpentry, the construction industry, energy trading, international development, intellectual property, IT in cancer research, life coaching, physical therapy, and psychology.

A Collaborative Learning Experience
On the 2nd of October, our school embarked on a unique and exciting day trip to Burg Alsbach. This outing was part of a pilot project designed to foster camaraderie and learning between our Year 5 and Year 9 pupils.
Maren Teltschick and Marleen Löber have been part of the Heidelberg Life Science Lab's support programme since August this year. The Life-Science Lab is an institution of the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg and aims to support particularly interested and talented middle and high school pupils and students in the fields of mathematics, science and technology. The focus is on the life sciences, which characterise the Heidelberg location to a particular degree.
Science and technology are continuously advancing in the modern world, and for effective education of the public about complex scientific topics, one needs to get creative. A great way to do so is using art as a medium. Misha Hegde, a student in 10b SISS won two awards for her artworks at the Heidelberger Life Science Lab.

Der 13. jährliche Walkathon an unserer State International School Seeheim war ein bemerkenswertes Ereignis, das unsere Gemeinschaft zusammenbrachte, um einen guten Zweck zu unterstützen und etwas zurückzugeben. In diesem Jahr unterstützten wir die Wohltätigkeitsorganisation WellBoring, die sich der Bereitstellung sauberer Wasserlösungen widmet. Mit ihrer Hilfe planen wir, einen Brunnen für eine Schule in Kenia zu bauen.
On the 4th of June, the year 9 Classes have embarked on an educational trip to the university town of Heidelberg. This excursion was planned as a break for the student in the wake of upcoming exams.
