On Wednesday 13th June, the SISS Primary Year 3 ‘Wild Wolves’ class was visited by Filip, a member of the ‘Skipping Hearts’ organisation.  This organisation is part of the Deutsche Herzstiftung and aims to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle to children. The class was taught a number of new and exciting moves to try with their skipping ropes and presented their new skills to the other year 3 class.

On Thursday, 17th of May 2018, the upper primary children had the opportunity to meet the author Alexandra Fischer –Hunold, a German author for child and young adult literature who has published over 50 books. From 14-18 of May  Centralstation in Darmstadt hosted the book festival ,”Huch ein Buch”, for children .

As part of our IPC topic “we are what we eat” we visited two local farms and engaged in hands-on learning activities. Our first trip was to Karlshof, an award winning Dairy Farm, where we had a tour around the farm and learned all about where milk comes from. We made our own butter, to enjoy with our breakfast.
At Hofgut Oberfeld we participated in a workshop “from wheat to bread”. We learned about different kinds of grain and how bread is made. We also had a tour of the farm and saw harvesting machines and where the grains are stored. In the workshop we had the chance to grind wheat and make our own bread.
It was a wonderful experience which made a practical and emotional connection to our classroom learning.

The sportsday on the 8th June 2017 was a fabulous day. Our children had fun together with the German Grundschulzweig.
